Part 1 of 2 of coverage of the Treaty Ten Gathering which was held at the English River First Nation La Plonge Reserve in July 2022. 

Speakers highlighted in this video include the following: 

Clarence Iron - member of Canoe Lake First Nation; was the play-by-play announcer for the first ever NHL broadcast in the Cree language. 

Dawn Cheechum - legal advisor for the Treaty Ten Council. Originally from Clearwater Dene Nation; is of Cree and Dene ancestry. "acts as general counsel for various First Nations and First Nations organizations and works closely with them on all aspects of aboriginal law. Dawn works closely and respectfully, at the grassroots level, with First Nation communities, for the betterment of the communities." (Source: bjhlaw.ca)

Rosalie Tsannie-Burseth - Wollaston Dene Nation - "has been a leader in the field of education for 30 years as a teacher, principal, and director of education. She is also a vocal advocate for the preservation of Indigenous language and culture, and serves as a role model for many." (source: alumni.uregina.ca)

Ron Desjardin - Birch Narrows Dene Nation

Mary Culbertson - Treaty Commissioner of Saskatchewan "Saskatchewan’s first woman Treaty Commissioner is Nahkawe and Irish/Scottish English descent. A member of the Keeseekoose First Nation, she was the first member to earn a Juris Doctor from U of S Law and practice law in Saskatchewan. In January 2018, Mary Culbertson became the Treaty Commissioner for Saskatchewan." (Source: otc.ca)

Russ Mirasty - Lieutenant Governor - "Russ Mirasty was born and raised in La Ronge, Saskatchewan and is a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band. His first language is Woodland Cree." (Source: ltgov.sk.ca)
