Pandemic Effect on Entertainment Industry

Winnipeg is best known for many things, such as the Winnipeg Jets, Canadian Museum for Human Rights and The Forks as well. But Winnipeg isn’t really well known as an entertainment city. There aren't a lot of job opportunities in Winnipeg to work in the entertainment industry so a lot of people in the entertainment business move out of the city and move to Toronto or Vancouver because those are the major big cities to work in the entertainment industry.

In this episode of In Focus by U Multicultural host Mark Aaron sits down with someone who's making a huge splash in the movie industry.

Hera Nalem os the leading actress in a Winnipeg-based Movie called “ I Propose We Never See Each Other Again After Tonight”. Mark sat down with Hera to talk to her about her thoughts on how Winnipeg can change growth in the entertainment industry. They also talk about how Covid-19 has affected the entertainment industry.

Ms. Nalem believes that it's only a matter of time --  Winnipeg will eventually be like Toronto and Vancouver and will have an entertainment scene. The problem and advantage she sees in Winnipeg are it's a really small community. The advantage is that once you get in the entertainment scene,  you're in. You will have many connections and people will want to work with you.

The disadvantage with that it's such a small community that it's hard to find work because Winnipeg doesn't have a lot of people working in entertainment and there aren't a lot of job opportunities. Unlike Toronto and Vancouver, where there are many more.
