NACTV had the chance to interview several regional representatives during the Filipino Heritage celebration. They provided insightful descriptions of their regional floats, explaining their cultural significance and the traditions they represent. The representatives also shared updates on the current status of their regional groups and detailed the creative process behind the float concepts.
BISDAK Regional Coordinator Zaldy Paguidopon highlighted that their group is one of the largest in the Filipino community, representing Bisaya-speaking people from the Visayas and Mindanao regions. He noted that their float incorporated various cultural festivities from their provinces, including the Lanzones Festival and the Durian Festival, showcasing the vibrant traditions of their diverse heritage.
Another highlight of the parade was the CABALEN group, representing the Province of Pampanga in Region 3. Their representative shared that this year’s float featured the Hot Air Balloon Festival. They chose this theme to honor how the festival helped uplift the spirits of those affected by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, bringing hope and joy to the region after the devastating event.
The stories they shared offered a deeper understanding of the rich heritage ad vibrant cultures showcased in the parade. The regional groups from the Philippines highlight the rich and diverse culture and traditions of Filipinos, and showcasing their origins instills a deep sense of pride in their cultural heritage.
