Desert Days Festival going ahead despite COVID - on video

Local summer festivals have been cancelled in towns and cities all over the country because of COVID-19.  It's Desert Days' 10th annual Festival in Spence's Bridge, and they too have either had to pivot, or cancel.  They decided to pivot with a new online version of their festival -- and, in fact, the Ashcroft Cache Creek Journal gives our own Gareth Smart the credit for coming up with the idea of a video festival. (see paragraph 6 of the article). And the Ashcroft Hub has been helping the festival get up and running.

One of Gareth's guests today is Paul Cuthbert, the sound guy with the festival.  And he also introduces you to the Ashcroft's Hub's new media volunteers.

In other entertainment news --

In Ashcroft, an episode of CBC's The Twilight Zone, "A Small Town" (filmed in Ashcroft!) will be screened on July 9th & 10th! Social distancing measures will be in place so reserve your seats through the HUB Online Network.

The Ashcroft Bakery says things have been going well for them! Thank you for your support! To they will be extending their hours a bit more! They are now open Tuesday 9 – 4, Wednesday 9-4, Thursday 9-4, Friday 9-4, and Saturday10 – 5.

Moving onto Cache Creek -- There is lots of flooding going on, as you can see in the video. It is all flash flooding,  We are not on another local state of emergency this time. This recent flooding is due to lots of rain, less than week ago the Cache Creek River came up and ran through the fire hall and turned the little path beside the dairy queen. When our host Gareth Smart called the Cache Creek village there wasn’t anyone available to talk with him,  so he will have more to this story on Fridays show. However, to everyone that is working hard to those who have been evacuated, thank you for your efforts.
