New self-isolation requirements implemented by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit

 Good Morning! Welcome to your latest TVC News. This week (Friday 19th February) in Clarence-Rockland's regional update:

 An update on COVID-19 for Clarence-Rockland and Prescott-Russell;

The EOHU have changed the self isolation requirements as the new variants of the COVID-19 virus spread through our region.

If you live with someone who is symptomatic or with someone who has come into contact with a positive case you must stay home.

For the full list of these new requirements please head to the EOHU website.

Since Tuesday the EOHU has been placed in the “Orange” zone meaning that there are new restrictions in place.

This means that people can gather inside businesses such as restaurants under certain restrictions.

These will come as a boost to the local economy but do pose certain risks, and Dr. Roumeliotis said that there is a strong possibility that the requirements for each zone could change in light of the VOCs.

At the time of this recording there are 20 active cases through the Prescott-Russell region, of which 6 are in Clarence-Rockland.

Speaking on Tuesday evening Dr. Roumeliotis also explained in more detail the next steps of the vaccine rollout…

As the vaccine distribution continues we will ensure to bring you details on it’s availability when they are available. Make sure you follow our social media channels to remain up to date.

 We speak to Valoris about Children's Mental Health;

The pandemic has taken its toll on every single one of us, but a specific area for concern has been the effects on the mental health of children and teenagers.

On the wake of this second lockdown we spoke to psychotherapist Natalie Lacroix from Valoris about how you may be able to identify those struggling and what we can do to help them

Cumberland Ward MPP, Catherine Kitts talks Franco-Ontarian heritage month;

February marks Black History Month, but locally it is also the time of year to reflect on the franco-ontarien heritage of our province.

To celebrate the Réseau du patrimoine franco-ontarien has put together a jam-packed calendar of events, exhibits and activities all month and you can find those online.

We spoke to MPP Catherine Kitts from Cumberland to ask her why it’s important to retain the francophone influence in the region

 & we take a trip to Larose Forest to speak to South Nation Conservation;

Although the temperatures may be quite chilly, most people are still making the most of the outdoors. With limited options when it comes to activities due to the pandemic there has been greater emphasis placed on the importance of natural areas around us.

South Nation Conservation recently announced that the natural Natural Heritage Systems had been redefined to be more accurate.

The study was to determine the most important natural areas used by animals to move from larger core Natural areas such as Larose Forest, where I sat down with Alison McDonald from South Nation Conservation to find out a little more...
