PORT HAWKESBURY - This week's edition of the TELILE 24/7 Podcast features an interview with LGTBQI/autism activist Taylor Linloff and a recent presentation to Richmond Municipal Council made by the president of Cape Breton University, David Dingwall. 

A former Member of Parliament for Cape Breton-East Richmond who spent four years in the first Liberal cabinet of then-Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Dingwall spoke out earlier this week about Air Canada's announcement that it would suspend flights into the J.A. McCurdy Airport in Sydney beginning in January. 

Dingwall and other CBU officials insisted that such a move would hamper the university's ability to bring in, and work with, international students - one of the topics the CBU president addressed during his November address to Richmond Municipal Council's Committee of the Whole Meeting in Arichat. 

Closer to home, Linloff has launched the "Caremas Christmas Challenge," which encourages people to deliver Christmas cards to those who might not otherwise receive them during the course of December, such as health care workers, long-term-care complex residents, and those who remain on the front lines in the retail and fast-food sectors during the latest stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Port Hawkesbury woman is also spreading the word about her "Caremas" campaign on social media, encouraging participants to challenge three friends of theirs to take up the cause in the run-up to Christmas.
