Saint Andrews Town Council will resume meeting in person this September after over 16 months of Zoom meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic, but in-person meetings will no longer take place in the WC O'Neill Arena. The Town of Saint Andrews announced in early August 2021 that it will now hold in-person meetings inside the historic Charlotte County Court House. 

Mayor Brad Henderson says the new location will a great way to mark the return of in-person meetings and also offer a sense of a fresh start for the newly elected council.

"We've been doing Zoom council meetings for the last year and a half, and with the new council that was voted in this past May, we've actually technically never had an in-person meeting," said Henderson. "This will be the first time we meet for a council meeting in person, and it will be at the historic Court House. We will be doing our first council meeting there after Labour Day on September 8, 2021. CHCO-TV will also be there to record the meeting for television for residents who would like to attend but still feel more comfortable watching from home."

The return of in-person meetings isn't the only thing residents of the Town of Saint Andrews have to anticipate. August 28, 2021 will be the first-ever "Saint Andrews Appreciation Day" where locals who stepped up the plate during the time of COVID-19, from volunteers at vaccination clinics to delivery service providers and frontline workers, will be honoured with a ceremony. Dr. Jennifer Russell, New Brunswick's Chief Medical Officer who also happens to be a very talented musician, will perform with her musical group the Jenn Russell Big Band at KIRA Amphitheatre. The day will end with a fireworks display. 
"We need to take a moment to appreciate how far we've come and how many people stepped up to the plate to ensure we got this moment," said Henderson.
