Anishinaabe Aadizokaanan : Our Teachings - Thecla Neganegijig (Mishibinijima)
FirstTelTV5 presents Segment #2 in the 'Anishinaabe Aadizokaanan' - Our Teaching video series; a partnership project with Naandwechige-Gamig Wikwemikong Health Centre. Directed by Kerry Assiniwe, Director of Communications and Media Services Naandwechige-Gamig Wikwemikong Health Centre. Drum song thanks to Adam and Jesse Kaboni.
Anishinaabe Aadizokaanan features insights, thoughts, reminders and healing guidance from some of our Knowledge Keepers in Wiikwemkoong; as we all go through this COVID-19 pandemic as community.
Today, we bring to you teachings from Wiikwemkoong's Thecla Neganegijig (Mishibinijima). Thecla is an elder who's main interests are language revitalization and traditional culture and ceremonies. She also practices mindfulness and yoga, and enjoys the arts. In this video, she shares with us a few traditional ceremony songs, and talks about how our ancestors gave us these songs and teachings in order to live life, and how now more than ever we have to 'remember who we are'. Miigwetch!
